Sucheta Das, a photographer based in Kolkata (India) started photography as a passion when she was a school student and had a hope in mind to capture the problems of human life around the world as a future photojournalist. She completed her Honors in Geography from Calcutta University. She had attended the photojournalism workshop carried out by Magnum photographer Raghu Rai and fashion photographic workshop by eminent photographer Atul Kasbekar.
She participated in 13 days workshop carried out by National Geographic
photographer Steve McCurry. She has extensive experience to transmit photo from remote location. She worked in Reuters International news agency for 5 years as a contract photographer and also handled Reuters India picture desk. She worked as a staff photographer in Gulf News, Dubai. Presently she is working for International News Agency Associated Press (AP).

Her pictures have appeared in national and international vernacular dailies and magazines as a front page or cover pictures including Time, Washington Post,
London Times, National Geographic web page, Newsweek, Herald Tribune, Sundays Times, New York Times, The Guardian, Sipa Press,
Le Monde magazine in Paris, Corbis, Private magazine, Times of India, India Today, Hindustan times, Hindu, Telegraph, Economics Times, Business line and others.
Sucheta covered several national and international issues on natural disaster, violence, insurgency zones, Parliament Elections, colorful festivals, Fashions, International cricket matches, Rugby, x-games,
lawn tennis and others.
She also works on several human interest projects for social development of developing countries.
Sucheta won several International and national awards and recognition. She won 3rd prize in World Press Photo contest, National Media Fellowship award for 2004-2005 and 2009-2010, National Geographic award and others.
Sucheta had worked for several books on tribal dances for Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Sucheta owns a
fully operational studio, connected with professional models and make-up artists for glamour, fashion, product and commercial photo session at New Alipur, Kokata. Outdoor locations are arranged on request.
